The Korean drama Alchemy of Souls Part 2, Go Yoon Jung will replace Jung So Min, who previously played the female lead in this drama, Jung So Min. Alchemy of Souls part 2 tells the fate of people who experience changes in destiny due to soul exchange magic. The series set in a fictional country called Deaho, a region that doesn't exist on maps or history. In this second season, the story will focus on the story of Go Yoon Jung who plays the character Naksu. Precisely about Naksu's life before meeting Mu Deok and carrying out the transfer of souls. Alchemy of Souls will thoroughly examine how Naksu's life was before. In short, this story can also be called a spin off.

On October 19, South Korean cable network tvN officially announced via a statement to XSports News that Alchemy of Souls season 2 is slated to premiere its first episode on December 10. tvN announced on November 9 that Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow will air during 9:20 P.M KST slots. On December 4 and 6, tvN released new teasers for the upcoming premiere episode of Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow.
