Technology giants are racing to develop the metaverse to make it a reality. what are Meta plans, Google, Microsoft, and Apple for 2022?

To develop the metaverse, in 2022 this meta will soon release a virtual reality headset with the name project cambria. This tool according to meta has the quality to create 'mixed reality', by using the camera on the outside of the VR headset to combine the real world with the metaverse world. Meta also states that this tool will have facial features and eye tracking so that it is more responsive to the user's wishes.

Apple never said it would develop a headset. However, in products such as the iPhone, they already have LIDAR sensors that can measure the distance of objects. There is also a software application called ARkit that allows developers to create applications that use iPhone sensors for room mapping and location.

Unlike Meta, Apple never published their product before it was actually launched. But Tim Cook did not rule out developing an augmented reality and would not call it a metaverse.

Google is known to be opening new job openings, and recruiting many people who have expertise in augmented reality. This was conveyed by Mark Lukovsky, Senior Director of Google, who used to work at Meta. Google in 2020 bought the company North a start-up to develop a high-tech glasses with augmented reality features. This acquisition was carried out to develop Google Glass which had been started in 2013.

Microsoft was the first tech giant to introduce an AR headset, Hololens in 2016. However, this product is far from perfect and cannot be used in everyday life. In 2022, Microsoft is expected to refine Hololens and build Mesh applications. Mesh is a piece of software to help developers build applications across multiple tools to build the same digital reality. Mesh works like Video Call but with a 3D hologram. Metaverse software will be launched in 2022 and Mesh is known to be being integrated into video conferencing applications.
